Louis joined Fleet Space Technologies in June 2017 as one of the company's first employees. Louis started in his role as a Software Engineer and is now the Head of Engineering at Fleet Space. He is focused on engineering the Fleet Space network to be a best-in-class LEO constellation ensuring the technology is secure, agile, and fast.
In his time at Fleet Space he has built up a team of over 30 software, mechanical, and electronics engineers, and led the software architecture design for the Fleet Satellite Network, including the payload software, the end-to-end MAC layer, and supporting systems including satellite modems, ground stations, and cloud software.
Louis started his career with 8 years of web development knowledge, working on cutting-edge technologies to deliver robust and secure products in complex environments. The lure of space took him to the Astrophysics and Supercomputing department at Swinburne University, where he led the development of the Theoretical Astrophysics Observatory, and assisted astrophysicists in designing and running large-scale universe simulations on their supercomputer, before moving across to Adelaide for Fleet Space to work on something a little less theoretical.
