Jack is a mathematical geophysicist who has focused on the development of machine learning methods for seismic imaging. He’s worked on problems ranging from the topography of the core-mantle boundary to the carbon storage capacity of peatlands. At Fleet, Jack is developing ML tools for mineral targeting using ambient noise imaging.
Jack started his academic career as a mathematician/physicist at the Australian National University, where he graduated with the university medal. He received a General Sir John Monash Scholarship to study for an MSc and PhD in Geophysics from the California Institute of Technology, after which he was appointed a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow at the University of Oxford in the UK.
