Project: Tierra de Oro, Zulema, and Paleo Negro

Location: Atacama Region, Chile

Commodity: Copper

Deposit type: IOCG

Power Nickel, a Canadian exploration company, is focused on developing high-grade nickel-copper PGE projects and expanding its exploration efforts in the Atacama Province of Chile.

Overview

This project aimed to deepen geological insights and refine Power Nickel’s copper exploration strategies. Ambient Noise Tomography (ANT) was chosen to identify structural controls accurately, image features contributing to magnetic anomalies, and detect velocity responses linked to hydrothermal activity and potential mineralization.

Highlights

  • Enhanced 3D Structural Mapping: ANT successfully mapped key geological features, including faults and potential mineralised zones, extending the understanding of subsurface structures.
  • Validation through Multiple Data Sources: Strong correlations between ANT velocity models, aeromagnetic data, and induced polarisation surveys provided additional validation of the identified geological structures and anomalies.
  • Project Efficiency: The comprehensive surveys reduced exploration risks and provided valuable insights for future exploration efforts.
