Last week was the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada’s (PDAC) annual conference. Widely considered to be one of the world’s premier mineral exploration and mining conventions - PDAC brings together 30,000+ participants representing top mining companies from over 130 countries around the world to shine a light on the key trends, challenges, and opportunities facing the global exploration sector.
Fleet Space was proud to have a significant presence at the event to engage and convene leaders to discuss the path forward for the mineral exploration industry given the unprecedented challenges of rising demand, fewer discoveries, and higher environmental standards. Ultimately, what does a more scalable and sustainable path to accelerate mineral discovery in support of the renewable energy transition look like? And the response was, well, a tremendous inspiration and glimpse of the innovation path the mining industry will increasingly follow into the future.
A consistent theme across all our conversations with the wider mineral exploration community was a universal desire to create faster data-driven exploration strategies that also increase accuracy, reduce costs, and lower environmental impact. Historically, the various methods used as part of the exploration toolkit have been expensive, time-consuming, and environmentally impactful. But the convergence of innovation in space technology, AI, edge computing, and advanced geophysics are rapidly unlocking new possibilities.
Enter ExoSphere by Fleet®, our space-enabled, AI-powered mineral exploration solution that delivers 3D subsurface models in days – rather than months or years – helping over 35+ exploration companies enhance their data-driven exploration efforts worldwide. ExoSphere has become a clarion call for the mining industry to evaluate how advanced spacetech can be used to accelerate mineral exploration in support of net-zero.
The rapid adoption of ExoSphere globally led to the appointment of Fleet Space’s Co-Founder & CEO, Flavia Tata Nardini, to Austmine’s Board of Directors to help chart the future course of innovation in the Australian METS sector, and former BHP VP of Metals Exploration, Keenan Jennings, joining Fleet Space’s Expert-In-Residence program to advise on the company’s roadmap to transform exploration with spacetech. At PDAC, Fleet Space announced new features to its ExoSphere platform - Geological Sketch, Basement Depth Map, and Real-Time Diagnostics – building a bridge to the future of ML-enabled, real-time exploration.
Our side-event, ExoSphere & Beer, which brought together a diverse group of industry leaders and professionals to dive deeper on how ExoSphere is transforming exploration was a major highlight of PDAC 2024. Fleet Space was honoured to have our clients at IsoEnergy, a global uranium mining company, and Power Nickel, one of Canada’s leading nickel-copper mining operations, deliver thought-provoking presentations about how ExoSphere is helping to accelerate and enhance their exploration efforts. Power Nickel’s CEO, Terry Lynch, also shared his company’s journey using ExoSphere to propel their vision to become the world’s first carbon-neutral nickel mining operation - laying out a bold, bright, and more sustainable future for the mining industry in Canada and beyond.
Every day of the event the Fleet Space booth was bustling with product demos, discussions, and visitors eager to learn more about how spacetech is changing the landscape of mineral exploration. We even had the pleasure of Madeleine King, Australia’s Minister of Resources stop by, where we discussed her vision to build a sustainable future for all Australians by unlocking the potential of our nation’s resources sector. It’s the visionary leadership of people like Minister King that make a sustainable future for humanity possible - and we’re proud to continue innovating with spacetech, AI, and geophysics to make it a reality.
What is Fleet Space? At the end of the day, we are a team of Explorers - pushing boundaries and blazing trails for future generations to follow. That’s why we build technologies for explorers of the infinite frontiers above and below us. PDAC 2024 was an incredible ride - building relationships, furthering conversations, and learning alongside industry leaders from around the world. If you’d like to learn more about ExoSphere or how we can help to accelerate and unlock new possibilities for your exploration campaign, please reach out to us at sales@fleet.space. See you next year, PDAC, we can’t wait to pick up where we left off after another year of growth, innovation, and discovery!
