This hands-on program sparks curiosity, builds confidence, and inspires future STEM careers, offering a 360-degree approach to space missions, emphasizing that the space industry extends far beyond astronauts and engineers, with diverse career paths across a wide range of fields. Give your student an unforgettable learning experience – ‘Ad Astra’ - reach for the stars with LaunchBox!

LaunchBox under the
Schools Pathways Program

LaunchBox is going National! Fleet Space Technologies and Robinson Aerospace Systems are teaming up to bring this incredible program to schools across the country—completely funded for your schools through the Schools Pathways Program, funded by the Australian Government! This exclusive 2025 opportunity allows schools to access a series of reusable educational STEM kits at zero cost.

LaunchBox’s RASCube-LB kits come with easy-to-follow instructions and components, making it simple for students to assemble their own satellite. By applying this year for free, your school will gain access to the program for years to come at no additional cost. Even beyond the competition, RASCube-LB components and resources provided by Fleet Space’s LaunchBox Program will continue to serve as valuable teaching tools for STEM lessons across multiple subjects and year levels, up to Year 12.

LaunchBox bridges classroom learning with real-world applications, showcasing the diverse career opportunities in the space sector and inspiring future careers in space-related industries, including satellite design and engineering, programming, defence, data analysis, project management, marketing, and more.

With active involvement from space and defence professionals, students gain hands-on experience, industry insights, and mentorship, opening doors to exciting career pathways across the space industry.

Don’t miss this chance to launch your students into the future of STEM.

How LaunchBox Works

The program is designed with a curriculum aligned online program for Year 7 and 8 students.

Schools apply, and once registered, they will receive a number of satellite kits (depending on the number of students involved, with 1 kit provided for every 10 students) and access to an online portal with lessons and resources to independently run the activity.

No specific qualifications or prior knowledge are required from teachers, as all necessary resources are provided by the program.

[2]

Student Involvement

Students will embark on a one-of-a-kind adventure, stepping into the role of a space company as they design, build, and compete with their very own RASCube-LB.

While gaining firsthand experience in every step of the satellite launch process—including satellite design, engineering, programming, data analysis, launch planning, project management, meteorological forecasting, and more—they will deepen their understanding of space technology and its many applications in today’s world. Students will explore how space technologies impact critical areas such as communication, environmental monitoring, disaster response, and global connectivity.

With the creative freedom to customize their RASCube-LB, making it uniquely theirs, they will enter it into the competition for the chance to launch it on an out-of-this-world adventure!

[3]

Launch Event

Coordinated ‘launch days’ will be held around Australia, where all participating students will be invited to the spectacular event, during which the winning RASCube-LB will be awarded and flown on the balloons.

During the launch, all students will have the exciting opportunity to experience being space engineers for a day as they watch the winning RASCube-LB soar high in the sky! They'll receive live data and amazing pictures from the satellite as it floats above, giving them the chance to analyze their mission results in real-time.

To ensure maximum participation, the event will be livestreamed, allowing students who cannot attend in person to follow the launch remotely.

[4]

Reusability

The lesson materials and satellite kits will be reusable, including the launched satellites (as the balloons are recoverable). This ensures that participating schools can continue delivering the program to future Year 7 and 8 students, extending the impact of the program beyond 2025. By applying this year for free, schools will gain access to the program for years to come at no additional cost. The RASCube-LB components can also be used beyond the program, thanks to all the resources provided by LaunchBox and Robinson Aerospace, serving as valuable teaching tools for STEM lessons across various subjects and year levels, up to Year 12.

[5]

No Cost to Participate

There is no fee to participate in the program in 2025, which is fully funded by the Schools Pathways Project Grant.

All satellite kits and access to the portal are provided free of charge, this is an incredible opportunity for schools to access a high-value educational resource completely free of charge—a deal that would otherwise be a significant investment. However, this opportunity is only available in 2025, making it a once-in-a-lifetime chance

Each team will be eligible for partial financial support (details to be confirmed) to assist with travel costs to attend the Launch event in person or to organize their own launch event at their school, creating an immersive experience during the live broadcast. The winning team will be provided with full financial support for a trip to the closest launch location, even if it's in another state.

[6]

Flexible Schedule

The program is set to be rolled out across Term 3 and Term 4 of 2025, with the potential to run into Term 1, 2026, but the exact schedule for launches across the states are still being finalised.

The program can be completed in as little as 8 hours. Schools have the flexibility to distribute this time over 1 hour per week or adjust the schedule as they see fit. The program also includes optional modules that can make it more complex and longer, allowing schools to adapt the program to their preferred level of depth. The only important requirement is that students complete the program and submit a video of their working RASCube-LB before the due date to be considered for the launch competition, which will be communicated to all participating schools.

STEM @ Fleet

Fleet's commitment to STEM is in its DNA. Born from the educational startup LaunchBox, Fleet's co-founders created a hands-on program where students build satellites with 3D-printed frames. This initial spark ignited Fleet's growth as a space technology company and fueled its ongoing dedication to STEM outreach. Today, Fleet's STEM Program includes internships, work experience, events like Science Alive!, facility tours, community challenges, and programs like LaunchBox, inspiring students of all ages to explore the world of STEM.
