Location: Elizabeth Creek, South Australia, Australia
Commodity: Copper
Deposit type: IOCG and sedimentary copper
Coda Minerals is an Australian exploration company listed on the ASX. Coda Minerals is focused on exploring, discovering and developing minerals in the base metals, precious metals and battery minerals sector. The company owns a 100% interest in the Elizabeth Creek Copper Cobalt Project. The ‘near-mine’ exploration focuses on deposit extensions, and the deeper exploration aims at a potential Tier-1 IOCG discovery.
Overview
The Elizabeth Creek, Copper Cobalt Project is about 30 km southeast of Woomera and 135 km northwest of Port Augusta in South Australia.
The project is strategically located within the Olympic Copper-Gold Province, Australia’s most prolific copper belt, which includes the Olympic Dam, Prominent Hill and Carrapateena deposits operated by BHP.
Exploration Challenges
Both Neoproterozoic sedimentary cover as well as the Precambrian basement are prospective for copper mineralization, therefore a technique was needed that was able to image both the cover and basement to >1km.
Our Approach
Four ExoSphere ANT Surveys were conducted, with three focusing on the Emmie Bluff region and the fourth concentrating on the Elaine IOCG prospect.
“The ANT surveys for IOCG have provided a new paradigm and new targets. A strong structure having a strong association with mineralisation and gravity anomalism has been identified in providing new targets for IOCG.” Chris Stevens, CEO, Coda Minerals
Outcome
The surveys played a pivotal role in enhancing Coda's comprehension of the mechanism governing copper-cobalt mineralisation. The final interpretation of the 3D ANT model provided a deeper understanding of the Emmie IOCG system beneath stratigraphy prospective for sediment-hosted copper mineralisation.
